Mira Langin is a third-year political science and global studies double major from San Diego. Outside of speech and debate, she is a senior editor for the Undergraduate Law Journal and mentor for the Letters and Sciences Honors Program. She also is an undergraduate Orfalea Research Fellow, creating and leading a research program to study the social impacts of cosmetic surgery in South Korea. A fun fact about Mira is that she used to raise show goats in high school.
Alex Sur is a second-year mechanical engineering major from San Diego. He competed parliamentary debate throughout high school, additionally serving as his team's treasurer. At UCSB, he also is a research assistant in Hawkes Robotics Lab, secretary of ASME, and a systems specialist in Gaucho Racing. In his free time, Alex likes to practice piano and play pickleball.
Sam Rothstein is a second-year math major from the Bay Area. He competed for four years in high school forensics, including two years as his team's debate captain. In addition to his main events of parliamentary and IPDA debate, he also competes in impromptu and extemporaneous speaking. Outside of the team, Sam enjoys board games, hiking, and playing tennis and frisbee.
Jaden Nakamura is a second-year English major specializing in literature and the environment. She's been teaching speech and debate for 4 years and has trained 50+ students in parli and impromptu, including several state and national finalists. In her free time she enjoys cooking, running at the beach, and making connections within the team.
Hudson Palmer is a second-year economics and political science student from San Diego. When he isn't debating or doing a speech event he enjoys playing chess, reading, and running along the beach. He also works as a Caseworker for the Office of the Student Advocate in student government. A fun fact about Hudson is that he has six pets, including three dogs, a tortoise, a snake, and a hedgehog.
Caressa Cong is a second-year pre-biology major from Los Angeles. In her free time, she likes to volunteer with the UCSB Dental Buddies, read, explore local cafes, and listen to music. In speech and debate, she competes in IPDA and Impromptu speaking. A fun fact about Caressa is that she has celebrated her birthday in three different countries and wants to travel to more countries in the future.
Noah Nikolai is a second-year political science and global studies double major from Hawai’i. Outside of speech and debate he likes to spend his time surfing, playing games, and traveling. He competes in IPDA, NPDA, extemporaneous speaking, impromptu speaking, and persuasive speaking, with previous experience in LD and PF in high school, and helps organize the team’s tournament schedule and attendance. A fun fact about Noah is that he has been to 23 countries and 30 states.
Lauren Keane is a third-year political science and global studies double major. In her free time, she competes for UCSB varsity rowing, photography competitions, autocross, and loves anything that gets her outdoors. In speech and debate, she competes in IPDA, NPDA, and After Dinner Speaking. This year she will be working on coordinating fundraising, recruitment, and supporting community building activities.
Bellaluna Nahab is a second-year political science major who is pre-law. She participates in IPDA, NPDA, Impromptu, and speech to entertain. She heavily enjoys side quests, no matter the time or place. She will be overseeing future events and is open to ideas from everyone.
Hayden Fong is a second-year political science student from the Bay Area. Outside of speech and debate, he likes to rock climb, work out, and work on his car. He also works within AS elections as the advertising and public coordinator in addition to being part of the AS creative media unit as a videographer. A fun fact about Hayden is that he is a long-distane runner and has over 5000 miles of running under his belt.
Jasmine Wang is a student-body senator and third-year psychological and brain sciences major. She is passionate about criminal justice, moral dilemmas, and psychology. Jasmine enjoys running, reading, and hosting extra practices. A fun fact about Jasmine is that she has a black belt in kung fu.
